We were told to shoot and create a sequence using VFX. Me and my partner got
the "Justice" topic for our video. My teammate for this project is Brendan
Fedya (0376283).

"Justice" theme justification: "The likely outcome"
Justice will be done.
Decisions will go in your favor, particularly regarding partnerships or
legal matters. Now is the time for some good luck and reward for
your good deeds.
In week 10, we tried the VFX we were going to use for the final outcome
first. We took some shots to try the VFX and then we transferred it to
Premiere Pro.

Then we added gaussian blur (Figure 1.3) on an adjustment layer and adjusted it accordingly
with the opacity to make the zoom in look more smooth.
VFX TRIAL RESULT
On week 11, me and my teammate filtered through our ideas and picked one. We
also finished our storyboard and PPT.
On week 12, Mr. Martin recommended us to change our story since it was too
long and we might not be able to convey the theme of our video well. So, we
shorten our story and changed the content of our PPT.
FINAL PROPOSAL
During week 12 and 13, me and my teammate started shooting (Figure 1.4) after finalizing
our chosen story for the video.
Figure 1.4 shooting documentation (14/07/2025, week 13)
After shooting, my teammate compiled the shots (Figure 1.5) and Mr. Martin told him to
change a few shots on the video so that it is more clear.
Figure 1.5 Brendan's editing process (from Brendan's Blog) (16/07/2025, week 13)
On week 13, we finalized the video draft and started editing on Premiere Pro.
My teammate is in charge of editing the video, adding the VFX, and color
grading. I was in charge of finding the SFX, making the SFX sheet, and adding
all the needed audio for the video.
Before I can start adding the audio, my teammate edited the shot arrangement
after the feedback (Figure 1.6) and added the VFX after. We attended Mr. Martin's feedback
sessions each week, so my teammate developed the video each week according to
Mr. Martin's suggestions. For the process of editing the video, check my
teammate's blog
here.

After my teammate finished editing the video, I watched the video and listed
all the needed sound effects. I needed to look into it in more detail since I
am not going to use any original audio. This is the first SFX sheet I made
from my observation.
FIRST SFX SHEET
Figure 1.7 adding SFX process (21/07/2025, week 14)
Once I finished compiling all the needed SFX, I started adding the sound
effects to the video (Figure 1.7). First, I transferred the sound effects and video
to Premiere Pro. Then I shortened and arranged the SFX according to the
sheet. Lastly, I adjusted the dB of the sound effects making the sound
louder if the subject is closer to the camera.
FIRST SFX RESULT
After some considerations me and my teammate decided to remove some of the
SFX, so I fixed the SFX in sheet and the video. These are the results after
the adjustments.

After I finished fixing the SFX, my teammate added the title and also his
dialogue to the video. The process of adding the title and dialogue can be
seen in my teammate's blog
here.

After my teammate added the music and his dialogue to the video. I added
the subtitles (Figure 1.8) and experimented with different dialogue layouts. These are
the dialogue layouts I tried:

FEEDBACK
Week 11
Mr. Martin told us that the theme was not conveyed enough.
Week 12
Mr. Martin recommended us to change our story since it was too long and
does not convey the theme that well.
Week 13
Mr. Martin advised us to change a few shots in the video draft and to fix
the visuals of some shots. He also told us to shorten the video more,
since there are unnecessary shots.
Week 14
Mr. Martin suggested that we shorten the video a bit more and fix the
grainy texture on some of the shots.
REFLECTION
During the period of making the final project where me and my teammate had to make a VFX video. We were a bit behind our peers considering that it took us quite a bit of time to confirm the story of the video. But the process of creating the story and shooting the shots on our own, in my opinion was a very fun process. Even though there were times when me and my teammate had different opinions on some stuff, I think that we did a pretty good job on the final result.
Me and my teammate were a bit behind on our progress compared to our peers, but I do think that we were able to catch up eventually and finish with a work that we would be proud of. I do think that if we were given just a bit more time, we could have maybe developed our video more. But with the given time, I do think that the results were pretty good. I have also seen some of our peers work and it was pretty cool seeing the different ideas interpretation.
Through this process, I have learnt how to shoot much more efficiently and how much thought actually goes into these shoots. It made me gain another kind of respect towards movie directors and such that is responsible for making movies. I have done everything I could to make a video I would be proud of with my teammate, so I do not have many regrets. I do personally think that me and my teammate could have managed our time better, but I think that we adapted pretty well and gave our best attempt to create the final result.
