LECTURES

Week 3

During the physical class, Mr. martin showed us how to animate vector graphics. We were taught how to position the vectors, add the bouncing effect, and how to make it look smooth.

In-class Vector Animation Results:

After creating the vector animation, Mr. Martin showed us how we can make one of the graphics move (wiggle).

PROJECT 2

EXERCISE 3: KINETIC TYPOGRAPHY

We were told to create a kinetic typography in our own groups, and I was assigned as the leader. My group and I decided to use the song "PROM QUEEN" by Beach Bunny. This is the Music Video:

After watching the MV, we decided to divide our parts. This is the spreadsheet:

Once we divided our parts, we decided on a color palette and the fonts that we will be using. We also created the compositions first before starting the animation process. These are compiled in the PPT below:

I also created a storyboard after finalizing my composition, just so that I can get a better visualization before animating.

Visual Sources:

After dividing the parts, I started on animating my lines. I used the composition and storyboard as reference. First, I created the compositions for each line and settled the text animation so that it can appear more smoothly. After that, I started on creating the popping up animation to the first line and I also incorporated the arc change in the text. Then I did a simple animation on the second line, so that it can be easier to grasp. As for my third line, I made the word "INSECURITIES" fall apart in parts. So, I separated the word into 3 different text boxes.

For my last line, I animated it by separating it into 2 compositions. I mainly animated using the scale and position in this line. Once all the line composition is finished, I compiled it into a new composition and aligned it with the music.

This is the result of my part of the kinetic typography:

This is the final result after compiling all the group members animations:

EXERCISE 4: PIE CHART

We were told to create a simple animation on bar charts, line graphs, and donut charts based on the provided information. I was assigned to create a line graph. First, I created the graph and marked the numbers. Then I started on creating the lines using the pen tool. Once all the lines are completed, I animated it according to the tutorial provided. Lastly, I added the markings and title of the line graph.

EXERCISE 5: VECTOR ANIMATION

We were assigned to create a simple animation based on the vectors provided. I was assigned to animate the C vectors. First, I separated the elements I wanted to animate in Illustrator. Then I moved it to AE to start animating the wind turbine and clouds. For the wind turbine, I made it rotate simultaneously. As for the clouds, I made it move in different directions to mimic a real cloud.

REFLECTION

Through the creation of the different exercises in Project 2, starting with the kinetic typography. I think that the process was something that is very new and scary for me since I am not that proficient in animating. But, it was a fun process and experience and I think that working in groups made us compromise with each others which allowed us to work together smoothly. For the line graph and vector animation, the tutorials were very clear and the process went smoothly. It was quite fun to animate the exercises. I do think that my skill in animation has improved a lot more than before. This project really allowed me to practice my animating skills.
